Tim Parsons, BSc, ITEC Dip (Anat & Pysiol), FRSA, MIoD
I practice and teach T'ai Chi including the Short and Long forms, Sword, San Shou, Da Lu, Push Hands and Qi Gong with a focus on body transformation and the development of Chi and Shen. I also run workshops and retreats dedicated to sharing the internal understanding and beauty of Natural Way T'ai Chi. I am recognised as a Senior Instructor of T'ai Chi within the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain. I have studied the Hua Gong style of Chi Gong since 1993 and am qualified in massage and practice Neurostructural Integration bodywork.
I began my study of T'ai Chi in the lineage of Cheng Man Ching and Dr Chi Chiang Tao in the mid 1980's, working with Keith Graham and then John Kells at the British Tai Chi Chuan Association in Upper Wimpole street, London. It was during my time with John that I heard people talk about Alan Peck, a gifted senior student and teacher who had moved to Bristol to start a school some years before. In 1988 I had the opportunity to move to Bristol and I sought out Alan; so began my studies with him at the Natural Way School of T'ai Chi in Bristol.
I have met and studied with many teachers internationally over the years, but Alan remained my principal teacher of T'ai Chi for over twenty years until his passing in March 2010. During that time I taught T'ai Chi within the NHS (Phoenix trust) and for the Bristol Local Education Authority. As a teaching assistant of Alan for many of those twenty years, I feel privileged to carry on the Natural Way School of t'ai chi.
My current tai chi teacher is Wee Kee Jin, an in-door student of Master Huang Sheng Shyan.
Over the years I have gained experience in teaching t'ai chi to students with a wide range of conditions, including Special needs, Parkinson's disease, early stage multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, and post-traumatic chronic pain. The student's wellbeing is central, and I tailor both lesson content and the teaching approach to help maximise the benefits of t'ai chi. I am motivated to empowering others to find their own path to better health, happiness and returning to the source.

My t'ai chi journey began in the early 1980’s learning yang style long form with Beverly Milne in London. Subsequently I also studied Buqi healing and t’ai chi 37 with Dr Shen Hongxun, concurrent with my studies to become a yoga teacher, shiatsu practitioner and naturopath.
It was in London in 1989 that I met Zhixing Wang, with whom I studied the Hua Gong style of Qi Gong for healing for over 25 years, and I continue to incorporate this into my daily practice and teaching. In 1995 I moved to Bristol and spent time studying t’ai chi with Alan Peck until his death in 2010. Since 2013 I have been fortunate to deepen my understanding of internal tai chi practices via regular courses and retreats with Wee Kee Jin and more recently with Meraz Ahmed.
My private healing practice in Bristol is now focused on helping people with chronic illness and pain using hypnotherapy and EFT and Matrix Reimprinting, as well as naturopathy and dietary guidance. My work with clients and students is deeply influenced by over 35 years of Buddhist study and meditation in the Gelug and Dzogchen traditions and with Thich Nhat Hanh. I currently teach within the School of Natural Way Tai Chi.
